She raised
her face and she found that a countless number of glances pointed towards her
like sharp arrows which ached just looking at them.
At the
beginning she didn’t remember why she was there but later she did and It was
worst.
It looked
like resembled a palace; their roofs
were surrounded by very beautiful decorations with different symbols that
represented love, hate, war, family.
She was there
because she had been judged by a society which didn’t accept her.
There still were these inequalities between
people and she only wanted to be different.
Although
there were some important differences in her life.
Even so, the
dark looks didn’t stop accelerating her heart beats.
She felt
that something bad could happen, she felt how fear run over her body, how her
words throbbed in her head fighting to leave and defend themselves, how her
legs started to tremble and how the weight of their glances invaded her again…
It was
always coming back to the beginning, she woke up sweating with her chest going
up and down very fast and with the rage feeling invading her, because once more
she couldn’t defend what she was and she would return to the streets with that
weight over her.
She always
told herself the same: It’s not time to be coward, It’s the time to learn how
to impose oneself against all those things that makes us different but It also
supposed that the glances could beat her and weaken her more. She needed to believe in herself. She needed
to feel again the sun rays infiltrating again in her frail skin, she needed to
feel the wind drying her tears and she needed to feel alive and have reasons to
live. She needed a shield, a wall, a fortress.
Soon that
glances would come back and she should be ready.
A few days
later, the looks came back, It was as usual, she was in the center of a very
big room and all the looks pointed towards her.
But this
time there was something different, fear and pain she could see a few days ago
were absent.
She felt how
words began to flow clearly, how they made her feel alive when they expressed
what she wanted to show.
Each word,
each movement chased each glance and they became happy glances, expressive,
fresh.
All this time
she had been judged by an audience that she made up, all these people hid
behind a coat that never existed.
Fear invaded
her and now she dominates her own pain.
Differences
between people will always be there but that is what makes every single one of
us essential in this small world.
